Historic Atmosphere Preservation Zone Kyoto Municipal Guidance of Conservation Area of Historic Atmosphere in Kyoto For preservation of the historic atmosphere of the cityscape, standards have been established for the configuration, design, coloration, etc. of buildings. Repair and landscaping work for designated buildings is subsidized. Notification Roofs must be pitched roof, blackish in color.
Exterior wall colors must be gray, light brown or similar colors which are not discordant with the surrounding landscape.
